My first Bullmastiff was Saxon....or more formally known as Canadian Champion Jeikridge Medieval Saxon! Saxon came to us in 1998 at the age of 7 and a half weeks old. We BEGGED to get him for the long weekend in September. Saxon was a red fawn boy with the darkest mask and ears and full of energy.
After my husband and I married and got a house we decided we wanted a dog too. So the search began! We looked and looked and to be honest when I first saw a picture of a bully I thought yuck! My husband didn't listen to me though and began calling breeders to see who might be at "big dog show" at Skydome.
We went to Skydome and there they were BULLMASTIFFS! I loved them. They were so big, their heads were huge, and their personalities even bigger! I was taken with them then and there. I saw all the colours, reds, fawns and brindles! I wasn't too fond of the brindle colour at first, but knew I wanted a red and a boy!
Now it just so happens that the 2 breeders my husband talked to, happened to be at the show and that they were breeding their dogs! Hence, we waited for almost 9 months...we had to wait for the female...Ginger to be bred and then for the pups to be born and then another 8 weeks before they could go home! But as I mentioned above...71/2 weeks!
So that was the start of my bully love. I lost my beloved Saxon on February 5th, 2005. I miss him daily, but he taught lessons to his niece Ava, who has in turn taught them to her daughter Morgana, who teaches them now to her pups.
This year 2010 will see Groovella growing up and the hopeful addition of a pup from Neala, Bulla's Stone's Throw Away Eh. I will not be breeding again until perhaps the summer of 2012.
As many know once you have a bully you can never have just one!
Now please enjoy the rest of the site.
Sincerely,
Frances A. McEvoy
